The new automated method turns a phone walk-around into a measured, component-level digital twin, and joins EON’s proven, expert-guided Mirror Studio. Demonstrated on a full-scale industrial training skid; now entering productisation on EON’s Genesis platform.
IRVINE, CA — September 2, 2026 — EON AI Ventures today announced Universal Mirror Direct, a new automated method that builds a measured, component-level digital twin of industrial equipment directly from ordinary photographs. Where EON’s established Mirror Studio guides an expert through eleven steps — selecting photographs, approving every recognised part, cutting and confirming each model by hand — Mirror Direct is designed so the machine runs the build and a person makes exactly three decisions: set the rule at the start, revise the result by typing plain-language comments, and publish. Why it matters
In the accident analysis EON uses across its safety work — 184 fatal industrial accidents — 90 percent of the crews involved had never seen that plant before, and 53 percent were at that equipment for the first time. The remedy is for crews to walk the plant before the work starts — which requires a twin cheap and fast enough to build for every site and every crew rotation. EON’s August 2026 market scan (three research sweeps, roughly 55 sources) found generative 3D tools that guess, reconstruction tools that cannot name a valve, and twin platforms that require laser scans and engineering documents — and concluded that “photos in → clean, named, clickable twin out” is shipped by no one for industry. Mirror Direct is EON’s answer to that open lane.
How it works — four bands, in plain words
RECONSTRUCT: the photographs themselves are measured into a metric 3D skeleton — 16 photographs in 27 seconds on an ordinary laptop, no cloud upload — and the resulting ruler is checked against a published standard part visible in the pictures before it is trusted.
UNDERSTAND: every part is named, and the piping is read directly off the photographs — 24 runs were traced this way on the demonstration unit, each carrying the images that prove it.
BUILD: real 3D components are seated by their connection points on the measured frame, and pipes follow the photographed routes.
VERIFY & JUDGE: the finished twin is rendered from the original camera positions and compared square-by-square against the real photographs — and ships with that faithfulness check and a named list of its gaps.
Honesty is the feature
Every part in a Mirror Direct twin carries a badge stating how it is known — measured, fitted to a photograph, proportioned, placed by hand, or invented — and anything that cannot be established is counted and listed, never silently dropped.
The method proved the point on its own demonstration: it caught a deck length that had been typed in as 1.95 metres and never questioned (the photographs measured 3.017 metres across nine independent views), read a pipe diameter within 0.3 percent of its published ASME standard, and agreed with an earlier, independent measurement of a heater position to one millimetre.
“Anyone can make a beautiful 3D model. Industry needs a twin that tells the truth about a specific machine — and tells you how it knows. In our twins every part says whether it was measured or guessed. That honesty is the product.” — Dan Lejerskar, Founder and Chairman, EON AI Ventures
Availability
Mirror Direct is today a technology proven: every stage has been run and measured on one of EON’s own full-scale industrial training skids — a single-sitting end-to-end run is the stated next test — and it is now entering productisation and integration on EON’s Genesis platform, where published twins are hosted at full resolution. It will be Roll out in phases to key customers starting September. The established, expert-guided Mirror Studio remains the proven path in production use on EON’s own training equipment. A PowerPoint deck with the full pipeline is available on request. The pipeline at a glance:
