EON AI Ventures Introduces Field IQ Edge: A Digital Twin Beyond Connectivity

IRVINE, CA and SINGAPORE — July 22, 2026 — EON AI Ventures today introduced the product vision and reference architecture for Field IQ Edge, an offline-capable deployment profile of Field IQ designed to carry a bounded, trusted portion of the EON Digital Twin directly onto phones, tablets, smart-glass companion devices and local edge computers.

Field IQ Edge is intended for the places where physical work continues but connectivity does not: refineries, offshore installations, aircraft hangars, mines, hospitals, utility corridors and other environments with weak coverage, segmented networks, cybersecurity restrictions or complete air gaps. It is not a new platform and it does not replace the existing EON product structure. It extends Field IQ so the same worker experience can continue from disconnected operation through full cloud connectivity. Read more about in fepth in our “Field IQ Edge” white paper.

The core idea

The Digital Twin should not end at the screen, the control room or the network boundary. Field IQ Edge carries the right part of it into the work itself.

THE WHY · PHYSICAL WORK CANNOT PAUSE AT THE EDGE OF A WI-FI SIGNAL

Cloud AI can provide powerful reasoning, broad enterprise search and computationally intensive simulation. But a cloud-only assistant becomes least dependable in many of the environments where fast, trusted guidance matters most. A worker cannot safely assume that every camera frame, voice question, equipment check or procedural decision can wait for a remote service.

  • Continuity: an approved workflow should not stop when the wide-area network disappears.
  • Latency: recognition, stop conditions and step confirmation may require immediate local response.
  • Privacy and sovereignty: sensitive images, procedures and operational data may need to remain on the device or inside the site.
  • Resilience: local operation reduces dependence on an external provider, region, network path or API.
  • Cost and scale: continuous video and multimodal cloud inference can be expensive across an enterprise fleet.
THE WHAT · THE DIGITAL TWIN NOW TRAVELS WITH THE WORKER

Within the EON architecture, the Digital Twin consists of Genesis, EON Universal, EON Live and Situation Room. Together they organize expert knowledge, spatial assets, dynamic scenarios, procedures, hazards and operational context. Field IQ Edge receives only the portion required for a defined industry, customer, site, role, asset set and mission.

Capability Field IQ Edge role
Recognize Identify known equipment, visible components, labels, QR or NFC tags and other approved field targets.
Understand Resolve the specific asset through visual evidence, location, digital-twin relationships and worker confirmation.
Guide Retrieve trusted SOPs, diagrams, checklists, animations and bounded troubleshooting branches.
Protect Enforce deterministic prerequisites, stop conditions, authorization limits and escalation rules outside generative model weights.
Capture Record photos, readings, voice notes, exceptions and completion evidence locally.
Synchronize Return the governed field record when site or cloud connectivity becomes available.

THE HOW · WORK INTELLIGENCE DISTILLATION

EON calls the enabling process Work Intelligence Distillation: a governed method for selecting, grounding, specializing, compressing, validating and packaging the part of the Digital Twin required for a specific mission and device. The goal is not to squeeze the entire enterprise into a small model. The goal is to deliver exactly the intelligence that the worker is likely to need, with clear limits and traceable authority.

  • Select the relevant assets, procedures, hazards, media, scenarios and approved knowledge.
  • Ground recognition and guidance in the Digital Twin rather than a generic model response.
  • Specialize compact vision, speech and language components for the industry and mission.
  • Compile SOP sequence, safety gates and authorization logic into deterministic workflows.
  • Quantize and optimize models for the target iOS, Android or edge hardware profile.
  • Validate the package against accuracy, latency, battery, security and offline-completion requirements.
  • Encrypt, version, deploy and synchronize only the approved package and its governed deltas.
A package, not a chatbot

Each Field IQ Edge package combines compact AI models with a trusted local knowledge base, a Digital Twin subset, approved workflow logic, safety controls, experience assets, evidence capture and synchronization policies.

FIVE LEVELS OF EDGE CAPABILITY
Level Operating boundary
Level 1 · Carry Manuals, procedures, diagrams, videos and checklists. Fully offline.
Level 2 · See Equipment and component recognition, OCR, QR, NFC and visual state checks. Fully offline within the trained scope.
Level 3 · Assist Local search, voice interaction and grounded question answering. Offline and bounded to the approved package.
Level 4 · Guide Conditional workflows, safety gates, step verification and contextual AR. Offline after workflow validation.
Level 5 · Connect Fleet reasoning, high-fidelity simulation, expert collaboration, global analytics and broad enterprise learning. Connected capability.

A CLOSED LOOP, NOT AN ISLAND

Field IQ Edge extends the existing EON Work Intelligence flywheel. It does not create a parallel ecosystem.

Flywheel stage Role
EON Digital Twin Genesis + EON Universal + EON Live + Situation Room create and maintain the enterprise context.
Field IQ Edge Applies Work Intelligence in the field and captures the real operational delta.
Assess IQ Measures performance, competency, outcomes and evidence.
Compound IQ Finds patterns, extracts lessons and proposes trusted improvements.
EON Digital Twin Receives validated intelligence and becomes richer for the next mission.

INDUSTRY INTELLIGENCE, CUSTOMER OWNERSHIP

The proposed architecture separates reusable EON intelligence from customer-private knowledge. EON can develop compact, tested industry layers for oil and gas, aerospace, healthcare, mining, utilities and manufacturing. Customers retain ownership and control of their private assets, procedures, maintenance history, incident data, site configurations and customer-specific adaptations according to contract.

The resulting moat is not simply a small language model. It is the governed process and runtime that transform enterprise Work Intelligence into a secure field package: digital-twin grounding, synthetic and real training data, industry specialization, safety compilation, package validation, synchronization and the controlled learning loop.

PROPOSED FIRST PILOT

The white paper recommends a 90-day oil and gas reference pilot designed to prove the architecture before broader productization. The proposed scope is deliberately narrow:

  • One facility area with 20 to 50 tagged assets.
  • Two or three equipment classes.
  • One inspection workflow and one maintenance workflow.
  • One bounded abnormal-condition scenario with explicit stop and escalation conditions.
  • One reference iOS or Android phone or tablet profile.
  • A complete airplane-mode acceptance test for the core mission.

Success would be measured through asset and component recognition accuracy, offline response time, correct procedure retrieval, safe workflow completion, evidence integrity, synchronization reliability and worker acceptance. Pilot timing, design partners and commercial availability remain subject to product approval and implementation planning.

PROPOSED STATEMENT FROM EON AI VENTURES
Dan Lejerskar, Founder and Chairman — proposed quote for approval

“Cloud AI is powerful, but physical work cannot pause at the edge of a Wi-Fi signal. Field IQ Edge lets the Digital Twin travel with the worker. We distill the right Work Intelligence for the mission, run it locally under approved procedures and safety rules, and return verified field evidence to the flywheel. The worker remains capable when the network disappears, and the enterprise becomes smarter when it returns.”
