New module turns simulation results and verified field work into signed, expiring proof that a named person is qualified for a named task on a named class of equipment.
IRVINE, CA — July 27, 2026 — EON AI Ventures today introduced Competence IQ, a new module of its Work Intelligence platform that produces auditable evidence of individual competence in high-hazard industrial work.
Industry investigations consistently attribute the majority of serious incidents to human and organisational causes rather than equipment failure. At the same time, operators are required — by regulation in some jurisdictions and by internal standards in nearly all — to hold documented proof that each individual performing a safety-critical task is competent to do so. That proof is today assembled largely from paper assertions, because evidence of work as it was actually performed has not existed.
Competence IQ addresses that gap. It draws on evidence already generated across the Work Intelligence platform — scored simulation of approved procedures, verified records of real field work, assessed recognition of abnormal operating conditions, permit and isolation understanding, and captured expert knowledge — and assembles it into a single competence record. Each record is reviewed and signed by a qualified human assessor, carries an expiry, and traces every requirement back to the customer’s own controlled documents. “Competence has been a documentation exercise for decades, not because anyone wanted it that way, but because evidence did not exist,” said Dan Lejerskar, Founder and Chairman of EON AI Ventures. “We can now show what happened when a person did a job. The moment that becomes possible, competence stops being an assertion and becomes something you can prove.”
Designed so it cannot become surveillance
Competence IQ separates its outputs into three lanes, enforced in the architecture rather than in policy.
Individual records serve qualification and coaching only, and cannot be joined to compensation, ranking or appraisal data.
Organisational indicators are aggregated and are refused where a result would resolve to a small enough group to identify an individual.
Every deployment ships with a Worker Data Charter containing three contractual commitments: a person’s record never sets their pay; anything a worker self-reports carries amnesty and cannot be used against them; and no adverse action is ever taken automatically, with every consequence requiring a human decision.
“If people believe a tool is grading them, they stop telling it the truth, and then it is worth nothing to anybody,” said Lejerskar. “The protections are not a concession. They are the reason the evidence is any good.”

Five interfaces
The module presents through five surfaces, each answering a single question:
- EON Passport, a worker-owned record of what they are qualified for and what they need next;
- Crew Board, which tells a supervisor whether an assigned crew can perform tomorrow’s job;
- Gap Board, which gives leadership an anonymised view of where procedures are failing in practice and how quickly gaps close;
- Evidence Packet, a plain document that traces a single qualification for an auditor; and an
- Assessor Console through which every qualification decision passes a named human.
Availability
Competence IQ is available to design partners from the third quarter of 2026 as a module of The Work Loop within the EON Work Intelligence platform. EON is accepting a limited number of design partners in oil and gas, mining, aerospace maintenance and energy infrastructure. Partner engagements begin in shadow mode, producing records and evidence packets from data the customer already holds, before any interface is presented to supervisors or leadership.
