Point a device at any equipment and it identifies what you are looking at, guides you through the job, assists you while you work, and assesses how it went
IRVINE, CA – September 21, 2026 – EON AI Ventures today introduced Field IQ, a Work Intelligence system that puts expert guidance in the hands of the person doing the job, at the moment they are doing it.
A worker raises a phone, tablet or headset toward a piece of equipment. Field IQ identifies what is in front of them, draws the recognised components directly onto the live view, and opens the procedure, permit and instruction attached to each one. It guides the worker through the task step by step, assists when something is unfamiliar, and captures how the work was actually performed — in the moment, and for review afterwards.
By connecting operational knowledge directly to physical work, Field IQ helps organizations turn training into real-time performance support while creating a continuous link between learning, execution, and improvement. The vision, technology, and implementation framework are detailed in the accompanying white paper, “Work Intelligence at the Point of Work: Why Industrial Knowledge Has to Move from the Classroom to the Equipment and What It Takes to Put It There.”
The knowledge is in the building. The work is in the field.
Industrial training has long been trapped in the classroom. Procedures live in binders and learning management systems; the work happens on a skid, at height, in a plant, often with no signal. The expertise of the most experienced operator is rarely available at the moment it is needed most.
“We have spent years teaching people before they go out,” said Dan Lejerskar, Founder and Chairman of EON AI Ventures. “The harder and more valuable problem is helping them while they are out there. That is what Field IQ does. You point your device at the equipment and the knowledge comes to you, on the equipment, in the moment.”
Recognition without modelling
Field IQ differs from conventional digital twin approaches in what it does not require. It does not need each asset modelled in advance. Recognition is performed on the live camera view, and recognised components are marked with the idealised engineering symbols an operator already knows from piping and instrumentation diagrams — the same visual language used across the industry.
This removes the practical barrier that has limited augmented reality in industry: the cost of authoring a bespoke three-dimensional twin for every asset before anything can be shown. Field IQ is designed to work on equipment it has never seen.
Guide, assist, assess
Field IQ is built around a single working loop:
- Recognise — the device identifies equipment and its components from the live view, beginning with oil and gas assets.
- Guide — recognised components carry the procedure, the permit and the preflight for the job at hand.
- Assist — simulation, physics and captured expertise from experienced operators are attached to the component in front of the worker.
- Assess — how the work was actually performed is captured, both as immediate feedback at the point of work and as a structured debrief afterwards.
Each completed job improves the system. Captured work informs EON Delta, the company’s domain model for industrial work, which is trained on real field activity rather than general internet text.
Availability
Field IQ is in field trials with industrial partners, beginning with oil and gas procedures on iOS and Android devices. EON AI Ventures is also evaluating ruggedised and intrinsically safe hardware for hazardous-area deployment, and an offline edge configuration for sites without connectivity.
